My mom finally did something...small, but something LOL

I expected her to walk away after replacing them, but instead, she proceeded to open the folders and started picking through the papers and reading them....I hopped up so fast and she heard me and I then watched her scramble to put them back as fast as she could. I flung the door and open she was acting like nothing had happened with her back turned. I ripped the folders off the top of the battery box and slammed my door. Then I reopened the door and grabbed the box of batteries and slammed my door again LOL Because if she's going to look through private personal items of ours, she doesn't get to have access to my battery box! haha I was so angry. And for once, I am going to take those files and go into her room in a moment and tell her I caught her and that's not okay.
I will tell you what happens when I get back.
Okay, so I walked into her room, carrying the two folders, while my husband was fixing her computer. I cheerfully asked my husband if it was fixed and he said almost (it did get fixed, thank goodness, I didn't want to buy a new one--it's my mother's only form of entertainment, so I can't leave her without access to a computer). So then I held out the two folders to my mother (she had glanced at them when I came into the room initially) and said:
Me: Hey, ma? These? *pointing to the folders* are not yours. Please don't look in things that aren't yours.
Her: *looks shocked* I would never.
Me: You did already. So, I am telling you to not look in things that aren't yours.
Her: What? I did not! I have no idea what you're talking about.
Me: I SAW YOU. Why are you lying?
Her: What do you mean? I didn't!
Me: Ma, I literally saw you open the top one and do this *mimicking her picking through the file and reading it* Why on earth are you lying to me right now? I SAW YOU WITH MY EYEBALLS *points at my eyeballs*
Her: I wouldn't even know what that was. *waves me away*
Me: *reads it to her* Patient discharge papers. You can clearly see that when you open it. I saw you reading this page.
Her: *shrugs* I probably didn't even realize what I was reading. (she can fully understand everything she reads LOL)
Me: I don't care if you understand or not when you read, what I care about is you snooping. Which is exactly what you were doing. You were snooping. Your name wasn't on either of these folders, right? No? So they're not yours.
Her: *rolls eyes* Whatever.
And now it's time for a lockdown. Not of people, but of our things. After seeing her SCRAMBLE to put away the folders when she heard me coming and then 100% pretending like she didn't do anything at all, I know for a fact she's the one doing all the shit in the house. The missing items, the scrubbie being pulled out of the garbage and her using it to wash the dishes, the items being replaced recently in my room that have been gone for years....she's playing a game with me. Well, she can't play if there's no game pieces to play with. Remove them from the board, and she'll just be playing in her head instead. Time to put more locks on the drawers and cabinets. Which I have in my drawer in my room. I already lock under the sink. Now I get to lock a drawer. YAY! No more her stealing my scissors or anything else.
I told my oldest she was looking through his files and he's not happy. He won't say anything to her unless he has to. But yeah, the whole house is annoyed with her. NOT with her snooping.....we could care less she was snooping. We care she just flat out LIED to my face and gaslit me. I literally WATCHED her and told her I watched her and she still denied it.
But see, this? This right here? Her snooping (my husband had literally left the room two seconds earlier, right before she started snooping), and then lying to my face about it? Makes me really realize she DID throw away all of those things of ours (shampoos, soaps, etc.) and she DID steal those items from me that she held onto for two years and then put them back in my room. God knows what else she's stolen from my bedroom. I am going to test her more again soon, see if I can catch her trying to get into my bedroom with my camera. Because this is just getting weird.
You can't hold dis bitch accountable for anything. But good thing we don't have to. We just create boundaries instead. Hard boundaries. Because that's what you have to do when you live with a sociopath (my therapist said she's not just a narcissist, but closer to a sociopath with the things she does.....which is so fucked up, but completely believable.
